RESEARCH ACTIVITIES - Description used by investigators to specify their area of expertise.
Key words: cell culture, molecular neurobiology, fluorescence imaging, synaptogenesis, subcellular trafficking, synaptic plasticity, molecular interactions, neuronal polarity, cellular neurobiology, hippocampus
Research interests: We study how neurons in the brain form synaptic connections and how they modify synapses with experience. Major projects include: the role of neurexin and neuroligin cell adhesion molecules in synapse development; identification of novel synapse-promoting factors; mechanisms of transport of proteins to synapses; and trafficking and function of NMDA type glutamate receptor subunits.
