RESEARCH ACTIVITIES - Description used by investigators to specify their area of expertise.
Key words: Synaptic Plasticity, glutamate, Neurogenesis, calcium, Immunohistochemistry, hippocampus, Learning and Memory, Electrophysiology, Behavior, Pharmacology
Research interests: My laboratory studies the impact of exercise and developmental disorders on hippocampal structure and function. Our current main projects are to look at how exercise, Prenatal Ethanol Exposure and Fragile-X Syndrome impact neurogenesis, dendritic growth, and synaptic plasticity in the hippocampus. We are particularly interested in the mechanisms by which exercise can benefit these disorders.
