RESEARCH ACTIVITIES - Description used by investigators to specify their area of expertise.
Key words: cognitive development, cognitive control, prefrontal cortex, attention, dopamine, working memory, developmental disorders, fMRI, executive functions, animal models
Research interests: The early development of cognitive control functions (incl. cognitive flexibility & inhibition [e.g., selective attention] collectively called executive functions) dependent on prefrontal cortex (PFC). Also the neuroanatomical & neurochemical mechanisms that make those functions possible, esp. the role of PFC & its dopamine projection, & the modulation of those functions by genes & experience.
